Impact of Faith-Led Schools on Students’ Values

There is much that a school can do to shape an individual and this is not limited to knowledge or academic excellence. Schools can shape individuals with strong values and morals so that they can make a difference in the society. And faith-led schools are known for their unique environment where academic excellence and spiritual intelligence go hand in hand.

Faith-led schools will create a small moral foundation for students from a young age. There are religious teachings that help guide students when it comes to making difficult decisions and how they interact with others. Some of the values promoted by Catholic high school Brisbane are compassion, humility, integrity and empathy which are very important to faith traditions and these values will help students contribute to the society in a positive way. And kindness towards others is always encouraged and faith-led schools will teach students how to recognise emotions and feelings in others and themselves so that they can care for others. And compassion will be something that they practice through activities organised by the school such as charities and service work which gives the students a unique perspective on those in need. And this will make students more inclined to help them as they will see how those in need live in real-life.

Students also learn to appreciate their blessings and they are taught to live with a sense of humility. faith-led schools will help students recognise their talents as well as be thankful for them. Gratitude and humility will be introduced to them at a young age and they will learn about how they can be content in their life. The students will be shown ways to help others even when they are young and this instils a sense of responsibility towards others and a willingness to help. And understanding the impact of values on life can be very useful when it comes to ethical decision making. Students will be shown how they can rely on their moral framework when making ethical choices and tough decisions.

Service to others is encouraged in many faith-led schools and some of the acts of service the students will get to be involved in are outreach programmes and community service. This will help them build a strong connection to their community and the service work they are involved in will teach them about generosity and selflessness. This gives them an idea of their place in the community and how they can help the community thrive even with a small change. And all of this relies on teaching students to be accountable for the decisions and actions they take. The consequences of these actions will be emphasised by the school and this gives students some insight on how to make the right choice based on their values and faith. And students will also feel a sense a purpose when they are learning in faith-led schools as they understand how to live with intention and how they can become a beacon of hope in their community.
